Hershey Gateway Expansion

Jarrell was selected to complete a multi-phase addition to the Hershey Gateway Expansion project, supporting increased production and operational efficiency.

Project Overview

Our team engineered and installed an overhead process piping network to transport raw materials from a remote uploading station into the main facility. This system was designed for efficiency, reliability, and scalability to support Hershey’s long-term growth. In addition, we implemented HVAC, plumbing, and process systems tailored to meet food processing standards, ensuring optimal climate control and ventilation throughout the new spaces.

This project showcased our design-build solutions that not only met the immediate needs of the expansion but also provided a robust, future-ready infrastructure for Hershey’s continued success.

Hershey Gateway Addition

Project Scope

The expansion was completed in phases, requiring precise planning and coordination. In Phase 1, we supported mechanical integration for the new main entry, employee locker rooms, and an expanded uploading station. Phase 2 consisted of mechanical systems for a two-story processing and packaging addition for the production of Mounds and Almond Joy chocolate bars. Mechanical systems included: chilled water, process steam, multiple hot water system loops, compressed air, RO, and softened water systems. Offices, breakrooms, and shipping areas were also part of Phase 2. Throughout the project, we worked closely with the Korte and Hershey teams to maintain full facility operations with minimal disruption.
