Ladue Middle School
Customer: Ladue School District
Construction Management: S.M. Wilson
Project Overview: 32,000 square foot classroom addition with new direct expansion rooftop air conditioning equipment with natural gas heat. The project included a major HVAC renovation to the existing buildings. The existing structure is now served by a single, 500-ton centrifugal chiller with low KW/ton, environmentally friendly refrigerant. Installation of three, high efficiency, natural gas fired hot water boilers serve the heating needs. Air distribution consists of nine modular air units. They provide air flow to various classrooms and administration offices through variable air volume terminal heating hot water boxes. A complete direct digital control system provides continuous monitoring and adjustments for the most efficient operation of the HVAC system.
Challenges/Solutions: The original budget wasn't adequate and Jarrell's proposed solutions helped the school district proceed without waiting for another school bond issue to be approved. In addition, the solutions expedited the schedule and improved indoor environmental quality.
