Customer: Kirk of the Hills

Project Overview: Replacement of a 40-year-old multi-zone system, utilizing multiple air handlers and condensing units connected to the existing ductwork. The new systems were connected to a building EMS system, giving the customer total control to minimize energy consumption.

Challenges/Solutions: One of the replacements involved a roof mounted package unit, located between two walls and next to another unit. Replacing the unit with the same brand equipment would have been easy, but the customer wanted a specific brand of equipment with several other options. The brand of equipment was physically larger, with differently configured ductwork. It was challenging to create a solution the customer wanted, while maintaining the manufacturer's recommended clearances for service and operation. The final solution was a custom designed roof mounting frame that brought the supply ductwork out the side of a curb. This achieved necessary clearances and allowed us to give the customer what they wanted.
